SAPA’s Advocacy:
Standing for Sudan
Amplifying Sudan’s Voice on Global Stages
Building Strong Advocacy Networks
Empowering Local Advocates
SAPA’s advocacy extends far beyond borders. In May 2019, Dr. Shaza Elmahdi represented SAPA at the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine’s Committee on Human Rights, sharing Sudan’s plight with key decision-makers. Later that year, SAPA’s voice resonated at the United Nations in Geneva, where we called for urgent action to address the humanitarian crisis
Advocacy Issues: Where SAPA Stands to Make a Difference

Access to Healthcare
Millions of Sudanese face life-threatening health crises due to a crumbling healthcare system. Hospitals are overwhelmed with shortages of medications, supplies, and trained personnel, leaving patients unable to access even basic care. SAPA calls for increased international support and funding to rebuild Sudan’s healthcare infrastructure and ensure that every life is valued. Together, we can create a system that provides dignity, hope, and healing for all.

Humanitarian Aid Gaps
With over 8 million people displaced and millions more in desperate need of assistance, the gaps in global aid to Sudan are devastating. SAPA witnesses firsthand how these gaps leave families without shelter, food, and safety. We urge the international community, including the United States, to prioritize humanitarian aid to Sudan and ensure resources reach those most in need.
Prevention and Treatment of Malnutrition and Disease
The people of Sudan face a double burden: rampant malnutrition and outbreaks of diseases like malaria, hepatitis, and dengue fever. Without urgent action, countless lives will be lost. SAPA advocates for comprehensive healthcare programs that address acute malnutrition and provide preventive care to protect the most vulnerable, especially children.
